A Bird’s Eye View on Books

If you're looking for a fun, inspiring read, I’ve got a book I think you’ll love: *Behind Every Good Man* by Sara Goodman Confino. It's one of those stories that mixes historical events with a fierce, relatable heroine, and I just couldn't put it down.

The book takes place in the 1960s, a time of big political shifts, and it follows Beverly Diamond, whose seemingly perfect life comes crashing down when she finds out her husband, Larry, is cheating with his secretary. But instead of letting it destroy her, Beverly steps up and shows what she’s made of.

Now, as a single mom of two kids, and in an era where women didn’t have a lot of options, Beverly’s determination and quick thinking really shine. She gets involved in Michael Landau’s campaign, a candidate running against her husband’s boss, and there’s definitely some chemistry between her and Michael. But what really grabbed me was watching Beverly break through the barriers around her and redefine what success looks like for her.

Confino does an amazing job capturing what it was like for women in the 1960s—balancing work and family, fighting for recognition, and finding a place in a world that often held them back. The mix of historical detail with themes of growth and empowerment makes it feel fresh and so relevant, even today.

If you’re into historical fiction or just love stories about strong, determined women, I highly recommend *Behind Every Good Man*. It’s a smart, engaging read, and I’m excited to let you know that you can check it out right here at the library.
